Sourdough Dipping Bread or Focaccia

Sourdough Dipping Bread or Focaccia

Sometimes the simplest things are the best. Crisp, toasted sourdough, our Rosemary & Olive Oil Focaccia, or Tomato Basil Focaccia served with good olive oil, Parmesan cheese, and freshly cracked pepper, makes an easy starter for dinner or a simple appetizer to share.

It's a great way to turn a few simple ingredients into something that feels special.

Ingredients

  • Sourdough bread or Rosemary & Olive Oil Focaccia
  • Good-quality extra virgin olive oil
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Freshly cracked black pepper
  • Flaky sea salt, optional
  • Fresh rosemary, optional

Instructions

1. Toast the Bread

Slice your sourdough or focaccia into pieces for dipping.

Toast until the edges are crisp and golden while the inside remains soft.

If using our Rosemary & Olive Oil Focaccia, you can simply cut it into smaller dipping-sized pieces and warm it slightly.

2. Prepare Your Dipping Oil

Pour a small amount of olive oil into a shallow dipping dish.

Generously sprinkle the olive oil with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and freshly cracked black pepper.

Add a pinch of flaky sea salt and a little fresh rosemary if desired.

3. Dip & Enjoy

Dip the warm, toasted bread directly into the seasoned olive oil, scooping up the Parmesan and pepper with every bite.

Serve immediately while the bread is warm.

Make It Your Own

This simple appetizer is easy to customize. Try adding:

  • Minced fresh garlic
  • Italian herbs
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • A drizzle of balsamic glaze
  • Fresh basil
  • A little grated Asiago or Romano cheese

Our Favorite

For a particularly delicious combination, use Rosemary & Olive Oil Focaccia or Tomato Basil Focaccia, warm it slightly, and serve it with extra virgin olive oil, Parmesan, and plenty of freshly cracked black pepper.

The rosemary already baked into the focaccia adds another layer of flavor to the simple dipping oil.
